This blog will be used to reflect upon what we learn in class, so that I can better absorb the information from class and increase my knowledge of teaching strategies for the benefit of my students.
As a bit of an introduction into myself, I will say that I love to write and read. I look forward to getting further into the material for this course and I hope to become an elementary school teacher in the future!
Thank you for your response to the readings! I to found this topic to be very interesting. While I am not in a classroom, I have learned quite a bit in my Human Development course about the positive outcomes of creating a nurturing learning environment. I agree, students will take my risks if they feel they will not be reprimanded and ostracized. I feel one of the most important tasks a teacher can accomplish is transforming the class into a team. If students feel they all need to help one another in order to succeed, there will be less stress and more support when students are encouraged to speak, read, and write in class.
ReplyDeleteI feel this group mentality will encourage children to read aloud and actively participate in class and small group activities. This idea will also assist the teacher better manage the classroom and prevent a lot of the behavior issues that could arise.
Here are a few articles and websites that I found on this topic. Perhaps you will find them useful as you explore your topic further.
Cheers!
